Relocating and Enhancing a Control Room for a Growing Security Company
When a medium-sized security company decided to move their control room to a new location, they faced the daunting task of transferring sensitive infrastructure without disrupting 24/7 monitoring operations.
Complicating matters, the existing remote monitoring setup required significant adjustments to be fully functional in the new environment. Our team worked closely with the client to carefully dismantle, transport, and reinstall all hardware — including servers, monitors, and communication systems.
During setup, we identified opportunities to improve system performance by configuring software and hardware to optimize bandwidth use and enhance alert response times. This also involved fine-tuning camera feeds and integrating new functionalities to enable better event tracking remotely. In one of our standout projects, Jericho Security tackled the challenge of securing multiple remote locations with no easy access to wired networks or reliable power sources. These sites required robust surveillance, seamless communication with the main control room, and the ability to operate independently when needed.
Our innovative solution combined Ubiquiti wireless units, Hikvision IP cameras, and compact uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to create a resilient, fully encrypted wireless security network. Each remote station was equipped with Ubiquiti units configured to not only send live video feeds but also to act as relay points, hopping signals between each other until reaching the control room. This mesh-like approach eliminated the need for costly wired infrastructure and allowed flexible placement even in difficult terrain.
To ensure continuous operation during power interruptions, each camera was paired with a dedicated UPS, providing critical backup power. This meant uninterrupted surveillance and recordings, safeguarding footage even during outages. All video recordings were securely stored locally at each site for immediate access and simultaneously streamed back to the main control room for centralized monitoring.
One of the project’s unique innovations was the addition of a horn system integrated with the IP phones in the control room. This allowed remote security operators to physically communicate with intruders via a loudspeaker at any site in real time. Instead of simply recording incidents, security personnel could issue warnings directly, deterring potential threats swiftly and effectively — a proactive approach rarely seen in traditional remote security setups.
